A 70-year-old man convicted of raping an 11-year-old girl in Harduaganj town of Aligarh has been sentenced to life imprisonment. Also, a fine of Rs 35,000 has been imposed. This verdict has been pronounced by the court of ADJ Special POCSO Surendra Mohan Sahay. The special thing is that the trial of this incident which happened last year has been completed in five months.
According to prosecution lawyer ADGC Mahesh Singh, the incident with the girl from a Scheduled Caste family happened on 28 December 2023. A case was registered by the girl’s father. On the afternoon of the incident, his 11-year-old daughter was playing outside the house. Then 70-year-old Rafi took her away by talking to her and lured her with money. After this, he took her to a hut and raped her. Later the girl told the incident to her aunt who was at home. Her condition was not good. The aunt came and informed the plaintiff.
In this case, the police registered a case and completed the process of medical examination etc. Later, a charge sheet was filed based on the arrest of the accused. The trial in this case began in March. All the witnesses as well as the victim girl testified, in which she supported the incident and told the truth. On this basis, Rafiq has been declared guilty and sentenced. An order has been given to give thirty thousand rupees out of the fine to the victim.
