After the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha elections, more than two lakh licensed weapons have been deposited so far. Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa said that till now a total of 20,86,614 publicity materials have been removed from public and private places. Police have seized 2,23,902 licensed weapons along with 271 licenses. Apart from this, 3391 licenses have also been cancelled. Taking preventive action, 3,68,471 people have been banned.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that similarly, action has been taken on 98 cases on misuse of vehicles and 285 on misuse of loudspeakers. Four FIRs have been registered in illegal assembly, speech and other matters. 508 interstate checkpoints and 1653 intrastate checkpoints are operated by police, income tax, excise and narcotics and other departments for intensive investigation. Police have also recovered 748 weapons, 767 cartridges, four kilos of explosives and 62 bombs.

135 factories manufacturing illegal weapons have also been destroyed. Cash worth approximately Rs 13.15 crore has been seized by various agencies till March 19. On Tuesday, drugs worth Rs 1.30 crore were recovered in Badaun, liquor worth Rs 49.07 lakh in Mirzapur, drugs worth Rs 79.50 lakh in Mainpuri. At the state level, 1904 Flying Scot teams and a total of 732 teams of enforcement agencies are monitoring.
