Elon Musk has started this feature to prevent the spread of misinformation on his platform X. Through this feature, any user can request for fact-checking of any misleading or misleading post on X. In such a situation, X’s Community Notes feature can prevent misinformation from spreading.
What is the Community Notes feature?
If we understand this feature in simple language, then Elon Musk has started this feature to stop the spread of wrong news on X. Through this feature, X will include selected users in its community notes program. To include users in the Community Notes program, X has made some important rules. According to those rules, users who become a part of the Community Notes program will then be able to report any post spreading misinformation on X and will be able to tell the truth of that post to other users by writing the correct information through Community Notes. This means that users with the Community Notes label on X will be able to fact check posts on X.
Necessary rules for this
Users who meet the eligibility criteria set by the microblogging platform can sign in for this Community Notes program. The team of Let us tell you about the qualifications set by X, only after which a user can apply for Community Notes:
- Users must not have violated any of the X rules from January 1, 2023.
- Must have joined X at least 6 months ago.
- There should be a verified phone number and that phone number should be from a trusted operator.
- There should be no connection with other Community Notes accounts.
How will you be able to give correct information on wrong post?
Once a community note is labeled, the label will not be removed until the user violates any of X’s rules. To write a post in Community Notes, you have to follow the steps given below;
- Pick up any misleading post on X (old name Twitter).
- After that click on the three dot icon. The option of write community note and report will appear there.
- If you want to write community notes, then write them, and if you want to report that post, then report by choosing the report option.
- Users who write community notes on any misleading post can delete that post.
To make this feature of his platform X completely transparent, Elon Musk has kept its algorithm completely open and public. It is available on GitHub. Apart from this, users who contribute to Community Notes will be able to contribute to a limited number of posts in 24 hours.
