Elon Musk’s Starlink: The world’s richest man Elon Musk may soon start providing his satellite internet services in India. His company Starlink may soon get approval from the Government of India. Actually, it has been said in the Money Control report that the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) is satisfied with the clarification of the shareholding pattern of Musk’s company and they may get regulatory approval soon.
If the company gets approval from the government, then Starlink will become India’s third satellite internet service providing company. Before this, Reliance’s Jio Communication Satellite and Bharatiya Airtel’s OneWeb have received all the necessary approvals to provide satellite internet service in the country.
LOI can be received by Wednesday
The report also states that the Department of Telecommunications can give a Letter of Intent (LOI) to Musk’s company Starlink by next Wednesday. However, Musk’s company has not yet shared any information in this regard.
After receiving the LOI, in the final stage a note of approval will be prepared by DoT Telecom Secretary Neeraj Mittal and Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnav.
After getting the approval from both, the Satellite Communications Wing (SCW) of the Department of Telecommunications will officially give the necessary approval to Starlink so that it can start its services in India.
Let us tell you, currently Telecom Secretary Neeraj Mittal is in the United States for the PANIIT 2024 program in Washington DC while Minister Vaishnav is participating in the World Economic Forum in Davos. In such a situation, after his return next week, Musk’s company Starlink can get all the necessary approvals.
