Emraan Hashmi was born on 24 March 1979 in a Muslim family. His father Syed Anwar Hashmi is a businessman, although he did a small role in the film ‘Baharon Ki Manzil’ (1968). His mother was Mehrah Hashmi. Emraan Hashmi’s grandfather Syed Shaukat Hashmi was a journalist who later also directed some films.

Relationship between Emraan Hashmi and Mahesh Bhatt
Imran’s grandmother Mehrabano Mohammad Ali was a Hindu before marriage and used to work in films. Emraan Hashmi’s grandmother Mehrabano was the sister of Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt’s mother Shirin Mohammed Ali. Imran’s grandmother was Mahesh Bhatt’s aunt. According to this, Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt look like maternal uncles in Emraan Hashmi’s relationship. He used to do mischief and harass people but his uncle Mahesh Bhatt tolerated everything. Mahesh Bhatt launched Emraan Hashmi in the 2003 film ‘Footpath’. The film was a flop and after that he was sent to an acting school in Mumbai.
