In Agra, Uttar Pradesh, encroachment was removed from the weavers’ center of Handloom Corporation in the presence of police and revenue team. The case is of Sikri Char Hissa village located in Fatehpur Sikri police station area. After the Handloom Corporation leased out the weavers’ center here, the police-administration removed the encroachment from here. Due to the fear of protest by the villagers, a large number of police force was present.
Let us tell you that a weaving centre has been built on about three and a half bigha land in Gata number 694 situated on the side of the highway in village Sikri Char Hissa. In December last year, it was leased to a local firm by the Handloom Corporation for 20 years. Since then, the villagers are opposing it.
