Two sub-postmasters fraudulently embezzled Rs 8 lakh from 28 account holders. Following the complaint, both were suspended after being found guilty in the investigation. Based on the complaint of the postal inspector, the police have registered a report and started searching for the accused.
Bharthana sub-division postal inspector Parvez Ahmed has filed a complaint at Saifai police station. Told that while working as the postmaster of Bharthana branch, Shailendra Kumar, resident of Mahavir Nagar police station Bharthana, committed fraud with the account holders. When the account holders complained about this, investigation revealed that the cash meant to be deposited in the accounts was received from the account holders. The deposit was also confirmed by stamping the passbooks, but Shailendra Kumar did not include the deposited amount in the government accounts.
In this way, about four and a half lakh rupees were embezzled from 12 accounts by using fake departmental documents and misuse of postal department seals. At the same time, acting postmaster of Parasna post office of Saifai area, Brij Kishore resident of Parasna also did not deposit about Rs 3.5 lakh from 16 accounts. Both were suspended after being found guilty in the investigation. After this both the accused absconded. Inspector in-charge Rakesh Kumar Sharma said that a report has been registered on the complaint of the postal inspector.
