Bath University has studied about this. The report revealed that vomitoxin was present in wheat from every European country included in the study. Its presence was found in more than half of the wheat samples. Vomitoxin was found in 70 per cent of wheat in the UK between 2010 and 2019. When it was tested, it was found that vomitoxin was within the safe limit set by the government in about 95 percent of the wheat. However, experts are expressing concern over the fact that some percentage of mycotoxins in wheat have been seen in excess of the prescribed safety limit. Apart from this, it has not yet been revealed about eating within the safe limit, what effect will be seen on the body if eaten for a long time.
Europe’s economy may be affected
Europe’s economy can be affected due to myotoxin. Actually, due to disease in wheat, its market will be bad at the global level. If buyers are not found, there will be a negative effect on the agricultural economy of Europe. Experts say that more than 5 percent of the wheat produced in Europe has been found to contain vomitoxin. Broadly speaking, it was equivalent to 75 million tonnes of wheat. If this wheat is consumed from the level of animal and human, then its effect will be seen on both. The expert is also worried about the wheat produced in India. Looking at the spread of vomitoxin, lest it start taking the wheat of other countries in its grip.
