According to the report, while in 2019 only 3 percent people were getting direct cremation of their dead relatives done, in 2023 this number has increased to more than 20 percent. Due to the rising cost of funerals, more and more families are choosing to perform the last rites without care, losing the chance to say a final goodbye to their loved ones.

According to the report, if someone wants to get the last rites of their loved one performed in his presence, then he has to pay Rs 4.29 lakh for it. Whereas the cost of performing the last rites without the person being present is only Rs 1.5 lakh. Because a lot is spent on flowers and food. And due to inflation their prices have increased rapidly. Even in this, scams have started happening. Many times funeral directors take money but do not perform the last rites through the entire process.
