Fake Electricity Bill: At this time, a message on social media ‘Dear customer, your electricity will be cut off tonight at 9.30 pm’ went viral across the country. This message has created anxiety and fear among people. In this case, the electricity department and the concerned officials said that the government investigated the truth of this fake message and found that this message is completely false. Officials said that this message was sent only to spread panic among the people.
Electricity department official said this
A senior official of the electricity department said, “We investigated that this message is fake and has no basis. Our team immediately handed over the matter to the cyber cell, which is tracing the source of this message. We appeal to people not to trust such fake messages and rely only on official notices for any kind of information.”
The government has directed strict action against those spreading fake messages. The cyber cell has identified some numbers and the concerned people are being questioned. Initial investigation has revealed that this message has spread rapidly from various social media platforms.

Appeal to people to be cautious
The electricity department has appealed to the public to be cautious and said that if they receive any such message, they should immediately contact the department’s helpline number and report it.
