The family members blocked the highway by placing the dead body

Rajesh, who had gone to work as a laborer in Nainital of Uttarakhand about a month ago from village Banni of Sadar Kotwali of Lakhimpur Kheri, died under suspicious circumstances. He worked in a hotel there. His body was recovered from a gutter near the hotel on Tuesday morning. On receiving the information, the family members took the body home on Wednesday. On Thursday morning at 7.30 am, family members along with a large number of women and men blocked the Lakhimpur-Palia highway, eight kilometers away from the city, by placing the dead body.
The deceased’s wife Sushma accused the youth who took Rajesh with her of murder. The young man who had gone to Nainital with Rajesh had returned home eight days ago. When the family asked him, he said that Rajesh had already left for the village. The family members doubt his words. The family accused the same youth of murder.
It is alleged that a complaint was made in Kotwali Sadar but no action was taken. Angered by this, the family members placed the dead body on the highway and blocked it on Thursday morning. Police force reached the spot. The police explained to the family members of the deceased. On assurance of action, at 9.15 in the morning the family members removed the dead body and opened the jam. During this time, due to the gathering of people, there was a queue of vehicles on both sides of the highway. Even the passers-by seemed troubled in the scorching heat.
