Micro Irrigation: The whole world is facing water shortage. There is a shortage of clean drinking water in the cities and water for irrigation of crops in the villages. There is water in many areas. But there is not enough means for irrigation, due to which water flows in vain. Be it diesel pump sets or conventional irrigation, due to these, more water gets filled in the field and the crop starts getting destroyed due to rotting. On the other hand, in non-irrigated areas, if the crop is not irrigated at the right time, the production decreases. In such a situation, farmers are being encouraged to do drop by drop irrigation. This method of irrigation is proving helpful in saving water as well as increasing the productivity of the crop. Today many farmers of Bihar are earning good profit by doing drip irrigation.

Good yield from horticulture crops
Banana farmer Ramji Singh of Alinagar Levdhan village of Vaishali district in Bihar is also one of the farmers who adopted drip irrigation. In the beginning, Ramji Singh used to do farming with traditional methods. He got boring done in his field and used to release water in the fields through diesel pump. A lot of diesel cost was spent in this.

It used to take hard work and monitoring also increases, but now Ramji Singh has started intermediate farming by adopting drip irrigation in his field. Now Ramji Singh cultivates papaya along with banana. He says that earlier a lot of water was wasted, but as per the requirement of the plant, the plants are irrigated through drip irrigation.

Drip irrigation is being promoted for good productivity of sugarcane. Farmer Sachin Singh of Bihar’s West Champaran has also increased the productivity of sugarcane in his fields. Sachin Singh explains that the length of the sugarcane used to be small when conventional irrigation was done, but when drip irrigation was adopted, there was a lot of change in the productivity of sugarcane.

Due to drip irrigation, the length of the cane increased from 18 to 19 feet in the sugarcane crop. Sachin Singh told that earlier when more water was used in the fields than required, then grass used to grow along with the crop, for which the laborers had to pay Rs 1200 to 1300, but if sugarcane was irrigated through drip, Only the roots of the crop got water and the growth of unnecessary grass reduced. Along with this, 10 to 11 canning started in sugarcane.

How to adopt drip irrigation
This unique method of drip irrigation not only saves water and money, but also increases the productivity of the crop. To install drip irrigation system under micro irrigation, the government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana), under which up to 90 percent subsidy is given to the farmers according to their eligibility. You can also contact the nearest agriculture department office of your district to get this system installed.

If the farmer has a registration ID, then along with the Aadhaar card, there should be summersable boring in the field. You can apply on the basis of these conditions. After applying on the official portal, the farmer’s application is accepted within 2 to 4 days and the drip irrigation system is installed on the farmer’s field within 8 to 10 days.
