Team India Squad: The fortunes of fast bowler Mukesh Kumar changed within a week. Earlier he was bought by Delhi Capitals in the mini auction of IPL 2023 for a huge price of Rs 5.5 crores, while now he has got a chance in the Indian team as well. Actually, Mukesh Kumar has been made a part of the Indian team for the domestic T20 series against Sri Lanka next month. This series will start from 3rd January.
29-year-old Mukesh, who hails from Gopalganj, Bihar, plays first-class cricket for Bengal. He made his first class debut in 2015. Mukesh has played a total of 33 first class matches so far, in which he has taken 123 wickets at an average of 21.49 while bowling. Apart from this, while bowling in 24 List-A matches, he has taken 26 wickets at an average of 37.46. At the same time, in 23 T20 matches, he has taken 25 wickets at an average of 23.68. In this, his economy has been 7.20.
Mukesh comes from a simple family
Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Kakarkund village of Gopalganj, comes from a simple family. Father himself Kashinath Singh used to drive an auto in Kolkata and his mother is a homemaker. The reason behind Mukesh’s selection is that he is a fast bowler and that is why trust has been shown in him. His father had passed away due to illness.
From the beginning, Mukesh was very good at playing cricket, but it was very difficult for him to choose the way forward due to no team from Bihar being a part of Ranji. Mukesh’s father used to drive a taxi while living in Kolkata, so Mukesh took the risk of going there. By working hard, he made his place in the Bengal team and started playing domestic cricket. After this, Mukesh got a place in the India-A team and this year he was also included in the Indian team.
Was part of India-A against Bangladesh-A
Recently India-A went on Bangladesh tour. Mukesh Kumar was also included in this India-A team. In the first match of this series, he took 3 wickets in his name. And in the second match, he took 6 wickets. He took this wicket in the first innings itself. During this, he had spent 40 runs in 15.5 overs with an economy of just 2.52 and also bowled the maiden overs.
