There was chaos at Dharhara railway station of Jamalpur Kiul railway section in Munger, Bihar, when the guard bogie of Jamalpur Kiul Passenger (03488) train caught fire due to short circuit on Tuesday. However, there is no report of any casualty in the incident. The incident occurred after the departure of the train from Masudan railway station.

Passengers traveling in the train said that after the train started from the station, as soon as the train picked up speed, there was suddenly a loud noise. All the passengers got scared after hearing the sound. Within a short while, smoke started rising from the guard bogie and started spreading around. People started having difficulty breathing. Passengers Upendra Prasad of Munger and Chunchun Kumar of Jamalpur told that as soon as the guard stopped the train, all the passengers jumped and started running here and there. During this period some people also suffered minor injuries.

At the same time, after the train stopped, the guard investigated and found that the CB box of the generator room had caught fire due to a short circuit. After a lot of effort, the guard controlled the fire with the help of fire extinguisher. While controlling the fire, the farmers working in the fields near the incident site provided full cooperation. Due to fire inside the CB box, the fire fighting equipment was not able to reach inside. The farmers somehow cut the upper part of the box with a knife. Only then was the fire brought under control.

After this the train was brought to Dharhara railway station. After checking by the guard and driver for half an hour, the train was taken to Jamalpur station. Station manager Praful Kumar said that a fire incident has occurred in a CB box. The train driver has said that the matter is under control. During this time, trains coming from up were operated from the down line.
