A fire broke out on Saturday night in Line Shah Baba Mazar Foot Over Bridge situated on the city side of Prayagraj Junction. The sudden fire caused chaos at the junction. During the fire, the passengers present on the bridge started running here and there. Thankfully, no major accident occurred. During this, the fire brigade was also informed. Later, the fire was somehow brought under control. The cause of the fire is being told to be a short circuit.
At around 11.10 pm at Prayagraj Junction, some people first saw smoke coming out of the signalling cable installed on foot over bridge number two, which is also called Line Shah Baba Mazar Bridge. The fire spread there very quickly. During this time, a lot of smoke spread from the fire. When the information was given to the control room, the staff posted at the station and the RPF jawans reached there with fire extinguishers.
During this time, all the passengers present on the bridge started running towards the other platform using the stairs. Meanwhile, the railway administration later stopped the movement of passengers on the bridge. Many other officers including station director VK Dwivedi also reached Mazar Bridge. The station director himself took the fire extinguisher there and started extinguishing the fire.
On the other hand, after sending a message to the control, the train operations were also stopped as a precaution for about 15 minutes. The fire was brought under control around 11.30 pm. However, by then the fire brigade team had also reached there. During the preliminary investigation, it was found that there was a short circuit in the signaling cable.
Officials said that the fire must have started due to this reason. Regarding this, North Central Railway CPRO Shashikant Tripathi said that the fire incident was reported at 11.15 pm. It was extinguished in 15 minutes. An investigation will be conducted to find out why the fire started.
