Fireworks Accident in Kerala: A major accident occurred late Monday night in Nileshwaram in Kasaragod district of Kerala. Here, about 98 people were injured due to the explosion that occurred after the fire crackers caught fire, while the condition of 8 remains critical. The injured have been admitted to the hospital.
According to news agency PTI, fireworks were being set off during a temple festival near Nileshwar in Kasargod, Kerala late on Monday night. Then this incident happened and about 98 people were injured. The injured have been taken to various hospitals in Kasaragod, Kannur and Mangaluru.
Injured admitted to different hospitals
It is suspected that the accident occurred when a fire broke out in the firework storage facility near Veerakavu Temple. Officials are investigating the cause of the fire. Local media reported that the condition of five people admitted in Kanhangarh District Hospital is critical. Matribhoomi newspaper reported that 33 people have been admitted to the district hospital. 19 people have been admitted to Aishal Hospital in Kanhangarh, while 12 have been admitted to Arimala Hospital. Forty people have been admitted to Sanjeevani Hospital, while 11 others have been admitted to Nileshwar Taluk Hospital and five to Aster MIMS Hospital in Kannur.
Children and women were also among the injured.
Mathrubhumi, quoting eyewitnesses, has said in its report that Moolamkuzhi Chamundi Theyyam festival was going on in Nileshwar in Kasaragod district. During this time people were bursting with fireworks. During the fireworks, a firecracker fell into a store building with explosives. Due to this, it caught fire and the explosives started detonating one by one. Many people were injured due to the spread of fire and explosion. Children and women are also among the injured.
