This voice call was made between two locations – Kolkata and New Delhi. However, the cost of calling was very high at that time. At that time, one had to spend Rs 8.4 per minute to make a call. At that time, money had to be spent for both incoming and outgoing calls.
Why was call service expensive?
The reason for call services being expensive was that the calling rate used to increase during heavy tariff hours. That is, people had to spend up to Rs 16.8 per minute for a call. But now the situation in India is very different. Now the recharge pattern for people has also changed a lot.
The market changed after 2016
After Jio entered the Indian market in 2016, a change was seen in the telecom sector. Before that, people had to spend more money on internet recharge plans.

Now most of the bundled plans are available in the market, in which there is less focus on calling and data. In this, you get features like unlimited voice calling along with 10 SMS. At the same time, telecom companies keep full focus on data.
