First Time Joint Women’s Contingent Of Army Navy, Air Force In The Republic Day Parade Beating Retreat Will Be Indigenous Republic Day


Like every year, this time too the country will celebrate its Republic Day on 26 January 2024 on the duty road in Delhi. All preparations for Republic Day have been completed. All wings of the army are continuously practicing for the Republic Day parade. Also, for the first time in the Republic Day parade, there will be a joint squad of women firefighters from Army, Indian Navy and Air Force. Women officers of these three forces will lead this squad. This is happening for the first time that women officers of Army, Indian Navy and Air Force will lead the parade together. Till now the Tri Service contingent i.e. the joint contingent of the three armies had not participated in the Republic Day Parade. Let us tell you that three squads of Army’s Mahila Agniveer, Navy’s Mahila Agniveer and Air Force’s Mahila Agniveer squad will march parallel. However, there is a difference in the style of parading of the three armies, hence the women firemen of Army, Navy and Air Force are also fine tuning their marching skills for the Republic Day Parade, so that they can march step by step on the duty path.

Beating Retreat Ceremony Indigenous

This time the beating retreat ceremony will be completely indigenous. According to sources, whatever tunes will be played in the beating retreat will be indigenous. Not only this, tunes have been selected for this.

The tune ‘Abide with Me’ was played at the Beating Retreat ceremony every year on 29 January since 1950. Earlier in 2020 also an attempt was made to remove it, but after controversy it was included again. But according to sources, this time every tune in Beating Retreat will be indigenous. In this, tunes like the power of the country are from us…, Kadam kadam pare ja…, Aye-mere watan ke logo…, Faulad ka jigar…, Shankhnad… Bhagirathi… Are included. Let us tell you that Beating Retreat symbolizes the return of the army to the barracks.

Recruitment of women sellers also started

With the implementation of Agneepath Scheme in the Indian Navy, recruitment of women sailors as Agniveer has also started. There were 2600 Agniveer in the first batch of Navy’s Agniveer, which also included 273 women Agniveer. There were no women in the first batch of Agniveer in the Indian Air Force, but in the second batch there were 153 women Agniveer who passed out only last month. Let us tell you that the training of the third batch is going on and there are women in it too. Recruitment of women as soldiers in the Indian Army also started from 2019. Women are deployed as soldiers in the Corps of Military Police. With the implementation of Agneepath Scheme, women are joining the Corps of Military Police as Agniveer.
