To change the condition of the ghats after the flood in Varanasi, Namami Gange volunteers and employees of the Municipal Corporation launched a cleanliness drive at Dashaswamedh Ghat on Sunday. As part of the drive, the puja material and flood waste scattered on the ghat and floating in the Ganga river were removed. The Namami Gange and Municipal Corporation team removed more than a ton of garbage from the Ganga at Dashaswamedh Ghat.
The citizens also played their part in this Ganga cleaning campaign. On the call of Namami Gange, people are joining in and working for it. Along with cleaning the Ganga banks and ghats, Namami Gange volunteers are also motivating people to clean the Ganga. Namami Gange Kashi area coordinator Rajesh Shukla said that after the flood, many things enter the Ganga bed and surface water, which pollutes the Ganga water. In such a situation, the things flowing and floating in the river have been cleaned, so that cleanliness is visible from the Ganga ghat to the bed.
