One such inspiring story is that of 60-year-old Kamaljeet, who after returning from Australia, started a small shop in Rampur and now his name is known in every corner of the city. Kamaljeet earlier used to make mustard greens and corn roti at her home, but due to the lockdown, her dream of returning to Australia was shattered.

Today, hundreds of people come to his shop every day, just to eat corn bread and mustard greens. Kamaljit’s full plate costs Rs 160, which includes four fresh rotis, butter, mustard greens, chutney, salad, pickle and mixed raita. She tells that 100 rotis are sold in a day.

Kamaljeet sets up her shop near VP Colony Gurudwara from 10 am to 5 pm and then on Shaukat Ali Road till 11.30 pm, filling people’s stomachs and hearts with her taste. The name of his shop is now on every tongue in Rampur and people come from far and wide to eat here. Kamaljit has made his saag even more delicious by adding gram greens, bathua and fenugreek to it.

She gives a special taste to the corn roti by adding light salt and fenugreek. She tells that this work takes her time from morning to evening, but the taste and affection of her hands makes her food special. Kamaljeet’s story proves that if there is dedication in the heart and passion to work hard, then no work is small.
