T20 World Cup 2024: Team India is sweating it out in the nets for the T20 World Cup 2024, but the biggest puzzle for the Indian team is about the bowling combination. The team has three fast bowlers, two all-rounders, two leg spinners and two left-arm spin all-rounders. In such a situation, before the warm-up match against Bangladesh at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar has told head coach Rahul Dravid a great bowling plan.
We should go with three spinners: Sunil Gavaskar
Speaking to Dainik Jagran, Gavaskar said that India should go with three spinners. However, he did not say who should be chosen between all-rounder Akshar Patel and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, as Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav are sure to play. He advised to choose Hardik Pandya as backup along with Jasprit Bumrah for fast bowling. This means that all-rounder Shivam Dubey along with Mohammad Siraj and Arshdeep Singh could not make it to Gavaskar’s playing XI.
Sunil Gavaskar said – “A balanced bowling attack is necessary in West Indies. Therefore, India can go with three spinners and two fast bowlers. Hardik Pandya can work as a backup bowler. This will maintain the balance of the team.”
Gavaskar’s advice to Shivam Dubey and Hardik
Gavaskar believes that Hardik Pandya’s fourth over will also be important, so that the other bowlers can complete their quota. He said – “Hardik and Shivam Dubey can bowl four overs together.”
Gavaskar praised the team combination
Apart from this, Gavaskar admitted that India has selected a very balanced team for the World Cup. He said – “I think this team is a good mix of experience and young players. Rohit, Virat, Suryakumar, Bumrah along with young players Yashasvi, Rishabh and Shivam strengthen the team.”
