Pakistan Cricket: In Pakistani cricket these days more discussion is being seen about the knowledge of English language than about the game. In fact, former Pakistani veteran fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar had raised questions about the communication style of Pakistan team captain Babar Azam during an interview. Now in defense of Babar, former Pakistan captain Salman Butt said in one of his statements that it is not a sin for someone not to know English.
Salman Butt defended Babar Azam and said that he is the best player of Pakistan. If he does not know English, then he has not committed any sin in this, he is not an expert in this thing, nor is it his mother tongue. If you get to see many such athletes in world cricket, then they talk in their national language and they are proud of it.
Butt further said that Babar Azam’s job is not to do any voice over, nor does he read English newspapers for you. Babar’s name is a brand in itself. In the last 4 decades, he is one of the most brilliant batsmen of Pakistani cricket and that is why he is also the world number 1. You have to give credit for this to Babur.
If you want to help then talk to them in private
On Shoaib Akhtar’s statement regarding Babar Azam, Salman Butt also said that if you really want to help Babar Azam, then you should talk to him privately and not make fun of him in front of people. You can at least talk to them privately and give them some suggestions to improve their command over the language. It is not right to say all this on TV about the Pakistani captain.
In fact, Shoaib Akhtar had said during one of his TV interviews that playing is a different thing and handling social media is a different thing. If Babar will not be able to express himself then how will he become a big superstar player. Babar should be the biggest brand of Pakistan, but because of not speaking English, he is not able to become.
