The court of Hathras Additional Sessions Judge Court No. 3 Harsh Agarwal has sentenced four accused, including the husband, to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment in the case of dowry murder of an eight-month pregnant married woman. The deceased was eight months pregnant. According to the post-mortem report, the eight-month fetus died along with the deceased. The court has sentenced all four accused to 10 years of imprisonment under Section 316 of the IPC for this crime. All the sentences will run simultaneously.

ADGC Shivendra Singh Chauhan, who is pleading on behalf of the prosecution, said that Narendra Singh, son of Ramveer Singh, resident of village Bahota of police station Ganjdundwara of district Kasganj, had given a complaint in police station Saadabad. In the complaint, it was said that he had married his daughter Anshu on 20 June 2018 to Lokendra Pratap Singh, son of Mahavir Singh, resident of village Rajnagar police station Saadabad, by giving dowry. A few days after the marriage, the people of the in-laws’ side demanded additional dowry from her and harassed his daughter. When his daughter came home a month ago, she told that they were harassing her to demand five lakh rupees and told her to bring money whenever she came.

The daughter had told that Lokendra Singh’s uncle provokes her husband. The daughter had also told that these people can do anything to her at any time. Earlier, when the daughter had come to their house, these people had come to the house. During this time the daughter was refusing to come, but on the insistence of some people, they sent the daughter. On September 1, 2020, he got information from an unknown person that his daughter has been murdered. When he came here, he found the body of the daughter in the hospital of Saadabad. He came to know that Lokendra and elder brother Nagendra, his wife Preeti, mother-in-law etc. together had beaten his daughter to death. His daughter was also about eight months pregnant.

In this case, a case was registered at Saadabad police station. After investigation, the investigating officer filed a charge sheet in the court. This case was heard in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Court Number Three Harsh Agarwal. After hearing both the sides, the court convicted the four accused – husband Lokendra, mother-in-law Gaura Devi, brother-in-law Nagendra, sister-in-law Preeti – and sentenced them to 14 years of imprisonment. The court acquitted the accused maternal uncle-in-law Ram Babu son of Lal Sahay. The court also imposed a fine on the culprits. If the fine is not paid, the culprits will have to undergo additional imprisonment.
