A strange incident has come to light from the government hospital of Kerala. Actually, a 4 year old girl had come for operation on her finger but the doctor performed surgery on her tongue by mistake. After the surgery, the girl’s parents have filed a case against the doctor. Due to the uproar everywhere regarding the matter, the doctor who performed the surgery has been suspended.
Doctor is considered to be another form of God, whereas a 4 year old girl became the victim of a doctor’s negligence. According to the report, the girl was to undergo surgery on her finger but the doctor performed surgery on her tongue.
When the girl’s parents were discussed about this whole matter, they told that the girl’s sixth finger had to be removed, hence she was admitted to the hospital. But when the girl was taken out of the operation theater after the surgery, it was found that surgery on her tongue had been done."text-align: justify;">When seeing the tongue surgery, the parents asked the doctors why the tongue surgery was done instead of the finger, they said that there was a cyst inside his mouth which was removed. For this reason tongue surgery was required.
Negligence of doctors
Hospital officials had told that two children were to undergo surgery on the same day. Therefore, this girl’s tongue surgery was done by mistake. After this incident, people are very angry in the entire state. State Health Minister Veena George suspended Dr. Bijon Johnson after receiving a report from the Director of Medical Education. Also, strict instructions have been given to hospitals to follow the protocol.
After the complaint of the girl’s family, the police have registered a case against the doctor under sections 336 and 337 of the IPC. Meanwhile, opposition leader VD Satheesan has denounced this entire incident.
