Dattatreya Temple of Kali Pahari
There is a temple of Guru Dattatreya on Kali Pahari, which is a famous religious place of Kutch. The sixth form of Lord Dattatreya can be seen in this temple. The temple was rebuilt after the Kutch earthquake. It is believed that when Guru Dattatreya had darshan of Hinglaj Mataji in Balochistan, his feet fell on Kali Pahari, after which his Paduka was established here.
story of black hill and fox
There is an interesting story related to Kali Pahari, which is related to Lakh Guru Kari. Lakh Guru was the priest here, who tamed many animals. One day, a fox came to the Guru but he had nothing to give him. Then Lakh Guru offered a part of his body to the fox. The fox went back without eating that part. Then the Guru said, “Lo-ang”. Since then this place got the name of ‘Long Otlo’.
Even today foxes accept Prasad
From then till today, naivedya (offering of sweet rice) is offered to Guru Dattatreya. This prasad is offered at Long Otlo of Kali Pahari during the cold season. The special thing is that even foxes come to receive this prasad during the winter season.
Black Hills is one of the best tourist destinations around the White Desert. This hill is spread over an area of 229 square meters. Its height is 462 meters. The view of sunrise and sunset from here is very beautiful. If you are also planning to go to Kutch then do not forget to visit this place!
