Delhi High Court has ordered the implementation of the Reliance Fund Scheme, 2024 for the victims of acid attack. They are residents of the national capital or against whom the crime has been committed here, irrespective of their address. The court, in a recent judgment, said the scheme, formulated by the Delhi government, will have a permanent fund of Rs 10 crore to meet the rehabilitation and other ancillary expenses of acid attack victims and will be administered by the Principal District and Sessions Judge (PJJ). The Court directed that the Principal District and Sessions Judge (Headquarters) shall open a separate account for the implementation of the Scheme, after which the Registrar General of this Court shall transfer the money lying in the Aasara Fund to the newly opened account under the Relinquishment Fund Scheme, 2024. do. The court said that in addition, fines and costs imposed under orders of this Court or any other Court and directed to be deposited under the Scheme shall also be added to the Fund.

The court was considering a bail plea filed by an accused in a POCSO case. Though the single judge had disposed of the plea last month, the matter was kept before the division bench as it was alleged that the minor victim was forcibly made to drink toilet cleaner along with the rape.
