gadar 2 director Anil Sharma reaction entourage costs films are not working public is not coming to see you in theaters

Anil Sharma on Entourage Cost: Director Anil Sharma, who gave the blockbuster film Gadar 2, has lashed out at the current generation of actors. He has also reacted to their extra expenses (entourage costs). He said that actors have the audacity to increase the expenses of their colleagues even when their films are not running in theatres.

‘Remaining value of less actors’

Anil Sharma said that there are only a few actors left in the industry who have value and can bring the audience to the theatre. Look at the South films whose shows get full 4-5 days in advance. Anil said- ‘The time is gone when we used to make films with Dharmendra and other actors and tickets would start getting booked a week in advance. Now this does not happen. The public is not coming to see you in the theatre. They watch you on OTT out of compulsion, that too if they watch 2 films in 25 minutes, then what have they seen. You don’t even know whether your film is a hit or a flop. You are living only in your own world.’

He further said, ‘Today’s actors either earn from Instagram or from ads. They are not getting anything from cinema because the public is not coming to watch them. This is the bitter truth. Except for 3-4 heroes, no one has the power to keep the theatres housefull even on Saturdays and Sundays.’

Anil Sharma said, ‘Content plays an important role. I think many directors, writers and actors have not seen the world beyond Versova and Bandra. They do not know what kind of content works in India. In the name of content, they have only understood what works for urban and OTT. Their understanding is limited to that, so they make content there only.’

‘Paparazzi culture has ruined the charm of actors’

Further he said, ‘The charm of actors is over. I see actors all the time on social media, gym and airport. So why will people pay to see them in theatres. Actors have become overexposed. Paparazzi culture has ended the charm of seeing actors. Because of this they may get ads on social media but the charm of theatres is over. South actors have maintained their charm. People are excited to see them in theatres. Sometimes the film works even if the content is good and the actor is not big. At present, neither the content nor the hero is getting money, only expenses are coming, nothing else.’
