Gandhinagar Court Convicts Godman Asaram Bapu In Woman Disciple Rape Case


Asaram Bapu News: The Gandhinagar court of Gujarat has convicted Asaram Bapu on Monday (January 30) in the case of rape of a female follower. Gandhinagar Sessions Court has convicted Asaram Bapu in the 2013 rape case of two sisters from Surat. A case was registered against a total of 7 accused, in which 6 accused except Asaram were acquitted due to lack of evidence.

Asaram’s wife and daughter were also included in these. Asaram is currently lodged in Jodhpur jail. Asaram will be sentenced tomorrow. In 2013, two sisters from Surat filed a rape complaint against Narayan Sai and his father Asaram. The younger sister had said in the complaint that Narayan Sai repeatedly raped her between 2002 and 2005.

Two sisters had accused of rape

According to the girl, she was raped when she was living in Asaram’s ashram in Surat. On the other hand, the elder sister had accused Asaram of rape in the complaint. The victim said that Asaram raped her several times in the ashram in Ahmedabad. Both the sisters have given separate complaints against the father and son. In 2018, Asaram was sentenced to life imprisonment for rape and other crimes.

Asaram Bapu jailed for 10 years

Jailed Asaram Bapu had recently sought bail from the court. In the bail application, Asaram had said that he has been in jail for the last 10 years. His age is more than 80 years. He is suffering from serious ailments. The Supreme Court should consider his bail plea sympathetically and issue a bail order so that he may get proper treatment.
