Garuda Purana Lord Vishnu Niti: Among the 18 Mahapuranas of Hinduism, Garuda Purana has its own special importance. Its presiding deity is Lord Sri Hari Vishnu. This is a scripture related to the Vaishnava sect. It is said in the greatness of Garuda Purana-

Yatha Surana Pravaro Janardano Yathayudhana Pravar Sudarshanam.
And Puraneshu’s Garuda’s main Tadahurharitattvadarsane.

Structure of Garuda Purana

  • There are total 19 thousand verses in Garuda Purana. Although only 18 thousand verses are available in the present manuscripts.
  • Also, it has 289 chapters which are divided into two parts, Purvakhand and Uttarkhand.
  • There are 240 chapters in relation to life and life in the Purvakhand. There are 49 chapters in Uttarakhand, which are related to the movement of the soul after death and its rituals.
  • Garuda Purana was composed after Agnipuran.
  • It is said that Garuda ji first heard the story of Garuda Purana from Lord Shri Vishnu and then narrated it to his father Maharishi Kashyap.

How many sections in Garuda Purana

After death, the rituals, Pindadan, Shraddha, Sapindikarana, Karmavipak and the law of atonement for sins, etc. have been explained in detail. Apart from this, description of Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha etc. is also found in it.
