After the ruckus created by the cow protectors over the dead cows and their remains found in the Dhoraira forest on the Mathura road, the Veterinary Department has issued SOP for the cow shelters. In this, when the cow progeny dies in the cow shed, its last rites will have to be performed as per a standard. Cowshala operators will have to maintain its records.

Chief Veterinary Officer Vipin Kumar Garg has issued SOP to all the cow sheds after the case of cow shed operators and cowherds dumping carcasses in the open in the forest came to light. He told that if a cow dies due to any reason in the cowshed, its record will have to be kept. Information regarding his funeral will have to be given to the department.

Cowshala operators have been instructed to perform the last rites of the cows at the designated place as per the standards. A two meter deep pit should be dug in it and the last rites should be performed by adding salt and lime along with the dead cattle. Apart from this, adequate fodder and food items should be given to the cattle as per time. Action will be taken against such cowshed operators if they do not work as per the standards.
