An Assistant Professor of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University called the Vice Chancellor of his own University twice by becoming LG. The accused got his own leave sanctioned for the first time. The second time the accused tried to get his sister a job in the English Department of the University. On suspicion, when the Vice Chancellor got it investigated, the reality came to light. The complaint was made to the Dwarka North police station. At the time of the incident, the accused had gone to UK for studies.
Look out notice was issued against the professor
The police got the LOC (Look Out Circular) issued against the accused. As soon as he reached India on Monday, he was caught at IGI Airport. He has been identified as Rohit Singh. He is posted as Assistant Professor in the Economics Department of the University. Rohit’s father Rajpal Singh and sister Manvi have also been made co-accused by the police in the case.
Called as LG on VC’s land line from UK
Senior police officers of Dwarka district said that last year someone called Dr. Mahesh Verma, VC of GGSIP University, posing as Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. The accused had called the VC’s landline number and talked about giving leave to Rohit Singh, assistant professor of the university, to study abroad. Rohit was discharged. After this, on 30 September 2022, the VC again got a call. The caller pretending to be the VC pressurized her to appoint a girl named Manvi Singh in the English Department. When in doubt, the VC contacted the LG secretariat. It was learned from there that LG did not make any such call. It was also learned that no such call was ever made to anyone from the LG Secretariat. Later, taking the matter very seriously, a complaint was given by the VC to the Dwarka North police station. Police started investigation by registering a case under various sections including fraud, IT Act.
This is how the case was revealed
After registering the case, the Dwarka police got the CDR of the land line number of the VC office removed. Investigation revealed that both the calls were made from a UK number. After this, the police got the CDR of the mobile of the candidate for whom the recommendation was made. Investigation revealed that the UK number from which the VC was called was in contact with Manvi Singh and his father Rajpal. When the police interrogated the two, it was found that the caller was none other than Manvi’s brother, who is currently in the UK for higher studies. He himself is Assistant Professor in GGSIP University. The police produced the accused in the court after taking one-day remand. From where he was sent to Tihar Jail.
