Goa Regenerative Tourism Model: The Goa government does not want to limit the state’s image to just good beaches. To improve the image of the state, the state government has decided to promote regenerative tourism. For this, the Goa government has launched the country’s first regenerative tourism. On the 62nd anniversary of Goa’s independence, the state tourism department announced a new tourism policy, which has been named Regenerative Tourism.
Through this, the government wants to strengthen environmental protection, cultural preservation and community empowerment in the state. For this, the Goa Tourism Department will mainly focus on four things, in which spirituality, indigenousness, civilization and cultural nationalism will be given prominence.
The Goa government hopes that this will give impetus to promoting new types of tourism in the state. The government has announced a new tourism policy to achieve the objectives of the Manila Declaration of 1980 and the parameters set during the G20 Tourism Ministers’ Working Group meeting held in Goa recently.
Changes in tourism sector
Announcing this new policy, the tourism department of the state government expressed confidence that it will soon be able to present the state as an example of regenerative tourism. Announcing the new policy, State Tourism Minister Rohan Khanwate said that with the beginning of Ekadash Tirtha, we want to give a new dimension to Indian tourism by emphasizing on spirituality, indigenous, civilizational and cultural nationalism, conscious tourism.
He said, “We want to establish a better balance with tourism as well as with the environment, Indian civilization and various communities through regenerative tourism. Our objective is to bring positive changes in the field of tourism. We aim to benefit the environment and the population. We want to move forward with policies that promote tourism and travel.”
The aim is to promote tourists
Launching the scheme, Sunil Anchipaka, Director, Goa Tourism Development Corporation, said, “Our main objective is to establish mutual respect between tourists and hosts. We are all part of this scheme and it is very important that we all involve ourselves in it.” Consider yourself involved and be ready to invest in it in every way from your respective levels.”
He told that he is also in constant touch with entrepreneurs and investors for the strong role of women and youth in Eleventh Tirtha. Anchipkaye also said that after the challenges of Covid, the Goa government is trying to take new steps to promote tourism as much as possible.
