Regarding this, the Union Education Ministry has also submitted a draft for 2025 in the UGC. Since the requirement of graduation or post graduation subject for NET exam is no more, now the candidate can appear in any subject. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has expressed hope that this draft will make higher education better and flexible.
Education Minister said this
The Education Minister said, ‘The Draft Regulations on Strengthening Educational Standards, 2025 will be placed in the public domain for feedback, suggestions and consultation.’ Let us tell you that UGC is going to finalize the Draft Regulations, 2025 soon. It will also be published in a few months. The new draft will give flexibility to universities in the appointment and promotion of teachers and academic staff in their institutions.
There will be these changes in the rules
After the new guidelines, the rules for becoming a faculty teacher in the university will be amended. It is believed that under this, the candidates doing post graduation in ‘Master of Engineering’ (M.E.) and ‘Masters of Technology’ (M.Tech.) with at least 55 percent marks will be given University Grant Commission National Eligibility. Without passing the test (NET), one can get permission for direct recruitment at the Assistant Professor level. However, the final decision regarding this is yet to come.
UGC Chairman gave this information
According to UGC Chairman Jagdish Kumar, the Measures for Minimum Qualifications for Appointment and Promotion of Teachers and Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and the Measures for Maintenance of Standards in Hiring Education Regulations, 2025 will replace the guidelines of the Measures Regulations, 2018. If this is implemented then to become faculty in universities, candidates will be able to appear in NET exam in the subject of their choice, no matter what subject they have in graduation or post graduation.
