If you currently use Google Podcasts to listen to your favorite shows, then there is a bad news for you. Actually, the company is going to stop this service from April 2, 2024. That means after this you will have to listen to the podcast from other apps. However, before closing this service, Google is providing data transfer facility to the users. If you have saved something in the Google Podcast app, you can transfer it to another Podcast app.
Why is the company closing the app?
Google had informed about the closure of Google Podcast app in September last year. One reason for closing this app is that most of the listeners listen to podcasts through YouTube. According to an Edison survey, YouTube is the top service for 23% of weekly podcast users in the US, while Google Podcasts is used by only 4%.
The company said that this app will not work in the US after April 2. After this, users will not be able to listen to new podcasts in the app. If you miss this date, you can transfer your podcast data to YouTube or other apps until July 2024.
