Google: Google has agreed to pay $ 28 million for settlement of a class action losuit. It was alleged in the trial that the company gives more salary to white and Asian employees and gives them better career opportunities than other employees. The case was led by the Maxico origin Ana Kantu, who is from the indigenous (indigenous) community. He fought for the rights of Hispanic, Latin and original American employees in Google. Last week, Charles Adams, Judge of Santa Clara County Superior Court of California, approved the agreement. He has described it as a justified and appropriate decision for 6,632 employees who have worked in Google between 15 February 2018 to 31 December 2024.
Google told allegations wrong
Although Google has accepted this agreement, the company spokesperson said that they do not agree with these allegations. He said, “We do not discriminate against any employee and are committed to maintain fairness in salary, recruitment and promotion.”
Cantu had alleged that despite his best performance in Google for seven years, he was retained in the same position while white and Asian employees were given progress and more salary. He also claimed that the white and Asian employees were placed in a high position despite doing equal work, while the employees who complained of this discrimination would be denied promotion and increment.
Equal pay act violation
For information, let us know that in September 2021, Cantu left Google and alleged that the company has violated the Equal Pay Act as California. The total amount of this agreement is $ 28 million but after reducing legal fees, penalty and other expenses, employees will receive an amount of $ 20.4 million. Google will give this amount to the employees. However, Google has denied the allegations against him outright.
