Shahbaz Sharif Order: The Shahwaz Sharif government of Pakistan has issued an order regarding government employees, which prohibits the use of social media without permission. They will have to take permission from the government to use any type of social media site.
The Pakistan Establishment Division Office issued a memorandum for government employees, stating that under the existing rules, no government employee is allowed to speak on any media platform without the permission of the government. Civil servants have also been barred from sharing any type of documents or information with unauthorized employees, citizens or the media.
The reputation of the government may be harmed
The memorandum further states that government employees will not be allowed to express their opinions or disclose facts on media or social media as this may harm the reputation of the government. Apart from this, the government has also banned them from commenting against government policy, decisions and the honour of the country.
Action can be taken against the violator
According to the memorandum issued by the government, government employees will not be allowed to make such statements that can affect relations with other countries. This directive of the Pakistan government has been issued for all civil servants. Strict action can be taken against any employee who violates this.
Guidelines issued to officials
The Pakistan government has also advised all government agencies to remove any objectionable content from their social media as soon as possible. For this work, guidelines have been issued to all federal secretaries, additional secretaries, department heads and chief secretaries. It has also been clarified in the memorandum that its purpose is not to ban the positive use of social media.
