The water level of Ghaghra in Devranchal of Sagdi tehsil of Azamgarh has crossed the danger mark on both the gauges. Chakki village is completely surrounded by water. The people of this village have to resort to boats. The river has started eroding Jhagrahawa Ka Pura of Devra Khas Raja village. This has been continuing intermittently since Wednesday evening.

The Ghaghra river, which passes through the northern border of the district, has now assumed a terrifying form. On Wednesday evening, the water level of the river at Badarhuna Nala was recorded at 71.66 meters, which increased by 34 cm to 72 meters on Thursday evening.

The minimum water level of the river here is 70.26 meters, danger point is 71.68 meters and maximum water level is 73.52 meters. On Thursday, the river reached 32 cm above the danger point. The water level of the river at Dighia drain was recorded at 70.85 meters on Wednesday, which increased by 23 cm to 71.08 meters on Thursday.

The minimum water level of the river at Dighia Nala is 68.90 meters, danger point is 70.40 meters and maximum is 72.59 meters. Here the river is flowing 68 cm above the danger point. A total of three lakh eight thousand 747 cusecs of water is being discharged into the river.

In this, one lakh 15 thousand 127 cusecs of water is being discharged from Sharda Barrage, one lakh 83 thousand 480 cusecs from Girija Barrage and 10 thousand 140 cusecs from Banbasa Barrage. Due to rising water level, flood water has entered the roads of more than half a dozen villages. Due to this, people have to travel through the water.
