On Tuesday, GRP team arrested a vicious thief in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. It crossed the mobile phones of four railway passengers in just two and a half minutes. The police were also surprised to see the incident in the CCTV footage. On the basis of the video, GRP has arrested the accused.
Accused Avneesh Singh, son of Deshraj Singh, resident of Gopalpur Etah told that he was looking for work. When he couldn’t find any work, he started stealing. He used to come to Mathura from Etah daily. At night, he would lie on the ground near railway passengers waiting for the train. Whenever he got a chance, he would steal the phones of railway passengers. GRP was continuously receiving complaints of mobile theft.
On this the team checked the footage of the CCTV camera installed at the second entry of the junction. In this, a young man goes and lies down near four people one by one. Steals their mobile. After identification from the footage, the accused was arrested from the junction itself. During interrogation, it was revealed that Avneesh used to sell his mobile for two thousand rupees by showing his helplessness to the people on the road. Stolen mobiles have also been sold at a shop in Etah.

The accused told that he is fond of wearing expensive clothes and shoes. He used to buy clothes and shoes with the money he got from selling stolen mobile phones. Used to go to the station wearing new clothes. He used to make his appearance as if he was a railway passenger. GRP police station incharge Sandeep Tomar said that information is also being sought about the people to whom the accused has sold mobiles.
