The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. The Congress suffered the most. The Congress came straight down to 17 from 77 seats. Means Congress had to bear the loss of 60 seats. At the same time, this time only five candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed to form the government, could win the elections. The SP candidate won one seat, while the remaining three seats were won by independent candidates.
Limkheda assembly seat in Dahod district is one of the reserved seats in the state in the Gujarat elections. This seat is reserved for Scheduled Tribe. The BJP had fielded sitting MLA Shaileshbhai Sumanbhai Bhabhor on this seat. Bhabhor defeated AAP’s Nareshbhai Punabhai Baria by 3,663 votes.
The ruling party of the state has been special for the BJP and the main opposition party Congress. Elections were held for the first time on this seat in 1962. Congress has won four times out of 14 elections held here while BJP has won five times. Apart from this, others have also won the elections here five times.
BJP won here in 2017
The BJP had won this seat in the 2017 assembly elections. In this election, BJP candidate Shaileshbhai Sumanbhai Bhabhor defeated Maheshbhai Tadvi of Congress by 19,000 votes. A total of five candidates were in the fray in this election. Except for the candidates of BJP and Congress, the deposits of the remaining three candidates were forfeited.
Prior to 2017, this seat was won by the BJP in the 2012 elections. Jashwant Singh Bhabhor, who contested from BJP, defeated Congress candidate Poonabhai Baria.
The sitting MLA got the ticket from BJP
The BJP had fielded sitting MLA Shaileshbhai Sumanbhai Bhabhor on this seat for the 2022 elections. At the same time, Congress had made Ramesh Kumar Gondia its candidate from here. Nareshbhai Punabhai Baria was in the fray from the Aam Aadmi Party. Polling was held on this seat in the second phase on December 5. The results came on 8 December.
BJP won four seats in Dahod district in 2017
Limkheda seat is one of the seven seats under Dahod district. In 2017, BJP had won four out of seven seats in the district. At the same time, the Congress was successful in winning three seats.
