A month has passed since the assembly elections in Gujarat, but the Congress has not yet announced the name of its legislature party leader. Due to which the Gujarat Assembly Secretary has written a letter to Gujarat Congress President Jagdish Thakor asking him to appoint the leader of the Legislature Party. The letter secretariat has asked the Congress to elect the leader of the legislature party before January 19.

Explain that according to the rules, within 30 days of the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected legislators, the opposition party has to elect the leader of its legislature party. The members of the 15th Legislative Assembly of Gujarat took oath on 19 December. This is the reason why in the letter the Secretariat has asked the Congress to elect the leader of the Legislature Party before January 19. The Congress is the largest opposition party in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. Gujarat Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi said that the name of the leader of the Legislature Party would be announced soon by the party high command.

Manish Doshi told that the high command has already taken the opinion of our MLAs and senior party leaders. Gujarat Assembly Secretary DM Patel said that it is mandatory for all parties to elect their legislature party leader so that if there is an incident like defections, the Speaker of the Assembly can talk to the party’s legislature party leader.

Let us inform that the Gujarat Assembly elections were held in December 2022, in which the Bharatiya Janata Party won a bumper victory. BJP won 156 out of 182 seats in Gujarat. On the other hand, the Congress, which has been waiting for a long time to come to power in the state, had to be satisfied with only 17 seats. Aam Aadmi Party got 5 seats. Whereas three seats went to the account of independents. The Samajwadi Party also won one seat in Gujarat.
