Appearance: Have you ever heard that an electronics shop and mobile repair man can help in catching the accused by making a sketch? If not, then today we are going to introduce you to one such person. Deepen Jagiwala of Surat, who has helped Gujarat Police catch criminals by making sketches in about 700 cases, is not a professional artist, but due to the way he prepares sketches, many accused are caught by the police within a few hours. Let’s go. The sketches made by Deepenbhai act as important evidence for the police.
How did Deepenbhai become a sketch artist?*
Let us tell you that Deepenbhai, who is a student of B.Sc Electronics, had never made drawings or sketches before. He neither did any course nor took any police training. Not only this, he never did any psychology course so that he could get information from the complainant. Nevertheless, for 22 years he has been extracting information from the complainants and making sketches and on this basis criminals have also been arrested. In many major crimes, the accused were arrested on the basis of the sketches made by him and other important evidence. In most cases, he has created sketches in between 30 minutes to 4 hours.
Become a sketch artist without any training
Speaking to Local 18, Deepen Jagiwala said, “I have been working as a sketch artist for the police department for the last 22 years. I was associated with the police department for technical reasons for the last several years. I was making a mobile phone recording device. Once there was a need to make a sketch of the accused and there was no sketch artist at that time. I tried it myself and succeeded. “I then worked on many cases and till now have made sketches of the accused in more than 700 crimes.”
Deepen Jagiwala said, “I have heard about Surat and Ahmedabad bomb blast cases, Jayanti Bhanushali murder case, Surat 2008 gang rape case, Surat 2022 gang rape case, Jamnagar gang rape, rape case of minor daughter in Bhavnagar Botad, Rs 24 thousand crore at Mundra Port last year. Made sketches in drug case worth Rs., as well as in NIA and ATS cases. Recently, sketches have been made in the gang rape case of Bhayla police station of Vadodara, Kosamba gang rape case, theft in Pavagadh temple, ATM theft in Vyara, and recently also the rape and murder case of Party police station. When an accused is caught on the basis of a sketch, there is 80 percent similarity between his sketch and mine.”
Deepen Jagiwala also said, “Those who get the information and get the sketch made, often say that the incident happened within a few seconds or it was dark and we do not remember. Moreover, sometimes the victim can range from a little girl to an elderly person. Their details are taken with great patience and calmness. Sometimes it also happens that the accused has to get sketches made after getting information about the co-accused. Then it has to be ensured that the accused is not misleading.
