Ananth Kumar/Gumla. Egg is everyone’s favorite. There are egg stalls in every corner of the country. The egg pouch available here in Gumla has been a favorite of people for 25 years. As soon as the stall is set up, there is a queue of customers to eat. When it gets cold, people like to eat items that keep themselves warm. Here people like to eat spicy items more when it is cold. One of these is egg which most people like to eat.
A different craze for it is seen from children to adults. This is the reason why you will see eggs at every intersection. But there is an egg stall in a small gumti located near Jashpur Road Sadar Hospital of Gumla district headquarters. The egg pouch, omelette and bhujia available here are quite tasty. The egg pouches available here are something else altogether. People come here from far away places to especially eat egg pouches. The reign of egg pouch here continues for almost 25 years.
Double egg pouch for Rs 25
Stall operator Lakhan Mahato said that he is a resident of Domba village of Bharno block of Gumla district. Has been living in Shastri Nagar of the district headquarters since 1980. After coming from the village, initially he used to do gardening work. After doing this work till 1998, he started setting up stalls. Since then I have been setting up a stall of Anda Chowmein near Sadar Hospital. In the beginning, along with eggs, he also sold chow mein. At that time my sons also used to help me in my work, but then they started doing other work. Due to which I went alone and since then I have been selling only eggs. Among the egg items, egg pouches are in highest demand in our place. Due to the taste and method of preparation, people from far and wide come to our place to taste them.
This is how egg pouch is prepared
First of all, Kanchul is offered on the stove. When the ladle is hot, mustard oil is poured into it. After the mustard oil is heated, finely chopped garlic and green chillies are added. Egg is put in it. Then finely chopped green chillies, onion, coriander leaves, ground coriander, Golki, ground cumin powder and plain and black salt are added. Due to which the test gets enhanced. As per the demand of the people, I serve hot pouches in pure Sakhua dona. Talking about the price, double egg pouch is available at the rate of Rs 25 and single egg at the rate of Rs 15. The stall remains open from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
