About 18 hours before the arrival of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Shahabad, a sensation spread when three hand grenades were found in a box on the banks of the pond in Kaundhi village of Pachdevra police station area on Sunday evening. Police officers immediately reached the spot and the bomb disposal squad was called. Upon arrival of the bomb disposal squad, it was found that all three hand grenades were inoperative and quite old.
Some children had gone to the orchard located on the banks of a pond near Kaundhi village of Pachdevra police station area on Sunday evening to pluck mangoes. During this time the children saw an old box in the soil. On this the children dug out the box from the soil. When I opened the box, I saw that it contained hand grenades. Within a short time, a large number of villagers reached the spot and some aware people informed the Inspector in-charge of Pachdevra, Ramesh Chandra Pandey.
The police reached the spot and took possession of all three hand grenades and informed the higher authorities about the incident. After this, a bomb disposal squad from Hardoi was sent to the spot. On reaching the spot, it was found that the hand grenades were inoperative and quite old. However, the police is interrogating the villagers in the entire matter. SP KC Goswami said that these were very old hand grenades and were buried in a box in the soil. The situation is normal. There is no tension or worry anywhere.
