Harmanpreet Kaur Statement: The final match of the first season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) was played on 26 March at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. In this match, there was a great performance from the Mumbai Indians women’s team and they created history by winning the match by 7 wickets and winning this first title of WPL. In this match, the team of Mumbai Indians got a target of 132 runs, which they achieved in 19.3 overs.
After winning the title, Mumbai Indians women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur said in her statement that it was a very special experience for us and we were waiting for it for a long time. Everyone enjoyed this whole season a lot. It is like a dream come true. Many people used to ask all of us that when WPL will start and now we can say that it has started and we are very happy about it.
Harmanpreet Kaur further said that I think having a long batting order gives you a chance to play yourself with speed. I am very happy with everyone’s performance. I think it is very important to stay positive and in this match the full toss has gone in our favor. This is a very special moment for all of us. Match winning unbeaten innings of 60 runs off the bat of Nate Siever Brunt
Chasing the target of 132 runs, the Mumbai Indians women’s team had lost their 2 wickets till the score of 23 at one time. After this, team captain Harmanpreet Kaur along with Nate Siver Brunt not only made a brilliant partnership of 50 runs for the third wicket but also worked to bring the team back completely in this match.
Even though Harmanpreet Kaur returned to the pavilion after playing an inning of 37 runs before giving the team victory, but Nate Siever-Brunt returned after playing an unbeaten inning of 60 runs, giving the team a 7-wicket win in the match.
