AC Jacket : Haryana Traffic Police will now remain cool even in summer. They are being given AC jackets, which will keep them cool even in extreme heat. This cooling jacket has been given to Gurugram Police Jawans (Gurugram Traffic Police AC Jacket). It is being said that with this jacket they will be able to avoid the problems and fatigue caused by heat stress in the summer season.
The biggest feature of this jacket is that it maintains the temperature for 8 hours. The weight of this jacket is 500 grams i.e. half a kilo, which is raising some questions. Like – how difficult can it be to do duty wearing such a heavy jacket, can it also cause body pain?
How does an AC jacket work?
The weight of this police AC jacket is said to be half a kilo. The jacket is made in two parts. In the first part, ice pads have been installed, which are frozen in the freezer and then kept in the jacket. The second part is the upper part, in which two fans have also been installed along with a C type charger, which work by connecting to the phone’s power bank. These jackets are based on PCM technology. Due to which they can maintain low temperature up to 15 degrees Celsius.
What problems can an AC jacket cause?
Right now the AC jacket is being used only as an experiment. According to media reports, wearing it also poses many challenges. The jacket being heavy can cause fatigue in the body quickly. Its ice pads can melt quickly. After freezing it in the freezer, it can be used for two to two and a half hours.
To freeze it again, you will need a freezer, which is not easy to bring to the street. Not only this, only the upper part of the body can remain cool with an AC jacket, this can disturb the balance of body temperature and can cause many health related problems.

Gurugram Police Zonal Officer Harfool Singh says that ‘suggestions will be sought from senior officials regarding this jacket. Its biggest problem is its weight. Also, we will have to think about where to re-freeze the bark pad when it melts.’ He believes that ‘half the body will be cold and half hot due to the jacket, which can be most harmful.’
