On Thursday, three of the four accused were acquitted by the special SC-ST court in Hathras’s daughter case. All three were released from Aligarh jail on Friday. The relatives came to pick him up, seeing him coming out of the jail, his eyes became moist with happiness.
The Special SC-ST Court of Hathras had acquitted Lavkush, Ravi and Ramu in the daughter case. All three were lodged in Aligarh jail since 2020. Jailor PK Singh said that the permission for the release of all three had reached at 6.30 pm. All three refused to go in the evening citing security reasons. Lavkush, Ravi and Ramu were released from jail at 8.30 am today. The relatives of all three had come to take them.
This is how the arrest happened
- On 14 September 2020, an incident took place with a young woman in a village in Chandpa area. Sent to Aligarh JN Medical College from District Hospital. Police registered a case against one accused Sandeep for murderous attack and SC-ST harassment.
- On September 19, the police arrested the named accused Sandeep.
- On September 22, on the basis of the daughter’s statement, section 376D of gangrape was extended and the names of three other accused were included.
- On September 23, the police arrested the second accused Lavkush.
- On September 25, the police arrested the third accused Ravi. The then Kotwali Inspector Chandpa was put on the line.
- On September 26, the fourth accused Ramu was arrested by the police.
