salt in the field
Talked to Ramesh, a salt farming farmer. He told that people know salt as a sea mineral, which can be obtained only in marine areas. There is a special method of salt cultivation. Salt water is used in this. Farmer Ramesh says that the entire field is surrounded by soil. The salt water filled in it is left to the sun’s heat, so that it dries properly and forms a thin layer. Then gradually this layer becomes thick.
In how many days is salt made?
Ramesh told that salt is cultivated near the railway station in Naigaon (East). Its cultivation is very easy. It takes 25-30 days to make salt for the first time. After that, salt is prepared every ten days and it is picked up and kept aside. After this the field is filled with water. The process of filling water in this field should not stop. He also told that every morning they release water in the fields for one to two hours and finally remove the salt from the fields. They appear to be in the shape of small stones and have a shine. While removing the salt, the salt is kept in two parts, one which is absolutely clean, which does not contain even the slightest bit of soil. The second is the one in which soil gets mixed in while pruning. After all this is done, this salt is ready to go to the factory.
