What is Zika Virus?

There is a fear of Zika virus spreading from a pregnant woman to the child. Its symptoms can include fever, rashes, conjunctivitis, muscle and joint pain, fatigue etc.

What is Nipah Virus?
Nipah virus is mainly spread by bats. It reaches the human body through fruits or other food items contaminated by bats. This is the reason why health experts recommend washing fruits and vegetables thoroughly before eating. Apart from this, they also advise not to eat fruits cut by birds. Getting affected by this virus can cause problems like respiratory problems, swelling in the brain, headache, cough, fever and vomiting. If the infection is severe, then a heart attack can also occur or one can even go into coma.

How dangerous is Chandipura virus?
This virus was first found in Chandipur, Nagpur, Maharashtra in 1966. It was named after this virus. More than 300 children died due to this virus in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat from 2004 to 2006 and 2019. It is an RNA virus, which spreads due to female phlebotomine flies.

There is also a risk of getting it from the bite of Aedes mosquitoes. Mostly children are affected by it. Its symptoms include high fever, vomiting-diarrhea, muscle cramps, weakness and unconsciousness in children.
