Heart Disease in Women : Till a few years ago, it was believed that women are less likely to have heart attacks, but many researches and incidents have proved that women are also not safe from heart diseases. A study presented at Cardiology Summa 2024 in Delhi has revealed that deaths due to heart diseases have decreased but its cases have increased among women. In 2016, the American Heart Association formally acknowledged that women have a higher risk of heart attack.
Which heart disease is more at risk in women?
According to health experts and cardiologists, the most common heart disease in women is coronary artery disease, in which plaque forms and blockage occurs in the tubes that carry blood from the heart to other organs.
Due to hormonal changes in the body of women after menopause, they are more at risk of this disease. Due to ‘arrhythmia’ they have a higher risk of heart attack. In this their heart beats either very slowly or fast. Apart from this, the risk of heart failure is also higher in them.
Why is heart disease dangerous in women?
According to health experts, symptoms of heart disease in many women are not visible until a serious medical emergency like heart attack occurs. The symptoms of heart disease in women are quite different from those of men, due to which they go unnoticed. The type of heart disease a woman has is known only by the symptoms.
Apart from this, not all female heart disease patients are already suffering from any disease. Some people live a healthy lifestyle but many factors like stress, anxiety, pollution can also become the cause of heart attack. However, women do not take high blood pressure more seriously and problems increase due to carelessness.
