Let us know what the study says…

What are neurological problems?

According to health experts, our brain, spinal cord and nerves together form the nervous system, which controls all the activities of the body. When any part of the nervous system is vulnerable or affected by any disease, many risks can be seen. Neurological problems can cause problems in walking, speaking, eating, swallowing, breathing and learning new things. Due to which memory becomes weak and mental problems can increase. Some conditions in neurological disorders are considered very serious. Sometimes this can even be fatal.

Neurological disorders can become the cause of death

According to the report published in Lancet, with the increase in global population, the risk of such problems is increasing due to exposure to pollution, metabolism and lifestyle risks. Researchers said that cases of disability and premature death due to neurological conditions have increased in the last 31 years across the world. Which is known as Disability Adjusted Life Years (DALYs). There has been an increase of 18% in this.

Top 10 Neurological Problems

According to this study, the 10 most likely neurological problems in the year 2021 include stroke, neonatal encephalopathy i.e. brain injury, migraine, Alzheimer’s-dementia, diabetic neuropathy, meningitis, epilepsy, death due to premature birth in children. These include neurological difficulties, autism spectrum disorders and cancers of the nervous system.

What do researchers say

Dr. Jamie Steinmetz, lead author of the study and research at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), Washington, said that such problems have increased in almost all countries. More than 80% of deaths and health-related risks due to neurological disorders are being reported in low- and middle-income countries. Despite these increasing problems, till 2017, only a quarter of the countries across the world had a separate budget for neurological problems and half the countries had clinical guidelines. Since this situation is quite worrying, all countries should take it seriously.
